Neptune groundwater wells installation

Neptune Bulk Terminals (Canada) Ltd. proposes to install two groundwater wells at their terminal. The wells are proposed to be approximately 156 millimetres in diameter and approximately five to nine metres in depth, and would be installed below ground surface using a rotary drill rig. The purpose of the groundwater wells is to carry out one-time aquifer pumping tests to establish the quantity and quality of water available in the aquifer located at the site, and carry out a feasibility study for a future potential groundwater well system. The test would run for 24 to 48 hours. After the pump tests, the wells would be sealed using bentonite and bolt down caps to stop any infiltration. The wells would be left in place until the conceptual report is complete and it is determined if a groundwater well system is feasible.  

The proposed works are expected to take place approximately one to two weeks, during regular work hours.

North Vancouver, B.C. – June 7, 2023 – The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has determined that the proposed Neptune Groundwater Wells Installation located at 1001 Low Level Road, North Vancouver, BC is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
