Repairs and expansion of Victoria Airport Authorities security fencing infrastructure are required to continue meeting safety and security standards and regulations.  Several deficiencies have been identified. The project allows for an increase in aviation safety.

Construction activities will consist during regular day time operations with no anticipated impacts to aviation operations.  Substantial completion of earthworks will be completed by August 2023.    

The project is located groundside and airside at various locations around the airport.  The project is fully contained on an existing lease and construction activities.  Adjacent public roads will not be affected.  Environmental impacts are anticipated to be non existent with limited ground disturbance.

Notice of Determination

The public comment period on this project is closed.  The VAA has determined that the proposed project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • Impacts on the rights of Indigenous peoples;
  • Indigenous knowledge;
  • Community knowledge;
  • Comments received from the public; and
  • Technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.
