CIPA Lumber Maintenance Dredging

The proposed project

Fraser River Pile & Dredge (GP) Inc. (FRPD), working on behalf of CIPA Lumber Co. Ltd., is proposing to conduct maintenance dredging of up to up to 23,000 cubic metres per year at the log boom storage areas and CIPA Lumber's log processing and storage facility at 797 Carlisle Road, Delta, BC. The dredging program will target high-priority spots each year through an approximate area of 92,430 square metres (i.e., the entire area will not be dredged annually).

Similar maintenance dredging in the water lot adjacent to the mill and a downriver log storage area was most recently conducted in February 2022 under Port Authority Project Permit 18-049. Targeted dredge grades would remain consistent with previous dredging works (i.e., approximately -2.5 metres local low water within the log storage areas and -6.1 metres local low water within the mill pocket). Maintenance dredging is required to maintain the navigational channel design depths and reduce risk to marine navigation.

Dredging is expected to be conducted between 7 am to 7 pm and may occur on weekends (i.e., Saturday and Sunday) and holidays to accommodate facility shutdowns and periods of inactivity.
