Green Space Project

Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) Veterans Cemetery located at 1190 Coville Road, Esquimalt, BC will undergo general cleanup and minor alteration of the grounds area within its Forest Garden section. The site is surrounded by the Gorge Vale Golf Club and access is via Colville Road through the DND property entrance.

The project area is confined to the Forest Garden Area which is 0.65 acres (approx. 2,500m2). The scope of the project is the general clean-up of the area with the removal of downed trees and leveling of ground areas to correct low spots with the addition of topsoil and grass seed. Depressions from removed trees will also be filled with topsoil and seeded.

The work will not interfere with or impact any headstones, graves or the columbaria located in that section of the cemetery.

    • October 2, 2023 - The public comment period on the project is closed. Veterans Affairs Canada is considering comments received to help inform their determinations on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
