The project involves adding new children's playground equipment to an existing park that was originally constructed in 2017 with a second phase added in 2018.  This final phase will add accessible and inclusive play structures and pieces and all-ages fitness equipment and completed with rubber surfacing throughout.

Construction activities will generally occur during normal business hours.

The project is located groundside on the northwest region of the airport and is zoned as a park/recreational.

 The project is fully contained on an existing lease and construction activities are not expected to affect airport operations.  Adjacent public roads may be affected when moving construction materials to the site but will be managed by road traffic flaggers.

Notice of Determination

The public comment period on this project is closed.  The VAA has determined that the proposed project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • Impacts on the rights of Indigenous peoples;
  • Indigenous knowledge;
  • Community knowledge;
  • Comments received from the public; and
  • Technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.
