Pugwash Yacht Club Dredging and Waterlot Extension

East Side

Dredge an area, up to 1708 m2 , between an existing floating wharf and the shoreline at the Pugwash Yacht Club in Pugwash, NS (45.846944, -63.663611) using a long stick excavator operating above the ordinary high water mark. Dredge cut depths will range from 0 m to 2.0 m.  Dredged material will be disposed of in a newly constructed containment cell on site.

Install a temporary access road adjacent to the dredge area, perpendicular to the existing service area, which will be removed completely upon completion of the work. The dimensions of the road will not exceed 385 m2 below the ordinary high water mark and will be constructed using clean stone free of fines.

Construct a 49 meter x 23 meter (1034 m2 footprint below ordinary high water due to the irregular shape))  containment cell along the shoreline where the existing service area adjoins the shoreline along Highway 6. Clean stone, free of fines, will be used to construct the containment cell with larger stone around the perimeter lined with geotextile before backfilling with dredged material.

Construct a 4.6 m X 4.9 m berm associated with fuel distribution. The fuel set up will be located on the existing land base and this berm will permit the required clearance from the ordinary high tide mark.

Dredged material left over after the construction of the slipway and berm will be used to add to the land base along the outer edge of the PWYC's water lot lease adjacent to the highway; no surplus dredged material will be disposed elsewhere in the marine environment.

West side

Create a slipway measuring approximately 3.85 meters m x 29.44 metres on the west side of the existing service area for a total footprint of 112.93 m2 below the ordinary high-water mark. The base of the  slipway will be armour rock. Top surface of the slipway will be concretes pads which will be constructed off site.

expanded parking and dock and boat storage space measuring approximately 67.68 meters long (parallel to the shore) and 24.17 meters at its minimum and 51.24 meters at its maximum width. The total footprint for this infill area would measure 1900.78 m2 below the ordinary high water mark. The perimeter of the infill area will consist of armour rock, lined with geotextile before backfilling with smaller materials. Parking will be expanded to include space for existing and new members, as well as parking and turnaround space for boaters utilizing the proposed public slipway. Space will accommodate dock and boat storage during the off season.
