Botsford Harbour Boat Ramp Replacement

The proposed activities consist of the removal of the existing concrete boat ramp (structure 501) at the Botsford small craft harbour, and part of the timber crib supporting the ramp. The area of the removals is approximately 29 m x 6.5 m. The removed structure will be replaced with a new concrete ramp supported by aggregate sub-base and rock fill base materials to be placed on top of the portion of timber crib remaining. Rip-rap will be used to contain the sub-base and base materials and provide stability where the ramp extends past the existing wharf structures 402 and 405. Including the rip-rap, the new ramp will be approximately 9 m at the widest point and 36 m in length. The extended length will allow the new ramp to have a gentler slope, providing greater traction for vehicles during on- and off-loading and making it safer for harbour users.

The work will be completed in dry conditions, with the contractor being required to install a temporary cofferdam and dewater the work area.

The proposed activities will improve the integrity of the existing wharf structure, providing safe and accessible infrastructure to the harbour users.
