Wharf Reconstruction at Parkers Cove Small Craft Harbour, Annapolis County, NS

The Small Craft Harbours Branch of Fisheries and Oceans Canada proposes to undertake a wharf removal and reconstruction project at Parkers Cove, located in Parkers Cove in Annapolis County, Nova Scotia.  The wharf removal and reconstruction will consist of the use of heavy equipment such as excavators and haul trucks working from the existing service area and wharf as it is being removed and reconstructed.

The existing pile work wharf (approximate footprint of 783 m2) will be removed and replaced with a pile structure similar to the existing wharf.  At the north end of the wharf, a new concrete deck will be installed on the existing crib. At the south end of the wharf, parallel to the shoreline, decking will be added.

Armour shoreline protection, will be placed on the west side of the harbour. The shoreline protection will be constructed by placing core stone on the harbour floor followed by 2 layers of 100-200 kg filter and finally 2 layers of 1-2 tonne armour stone. This work will be conducted with the use of heavy machinery such as haul trucks and excavators working off the shoreline.
