Albro Lakes and Wyse Road Separation, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia (NS)

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing to reduce combined system overflows (wastewater/stormwater collection system) into the Halifax Harbour. Historically, wastewater and stormwater have been combined, which leads to frequent overflows to the environment. Albro Lake and Little Albro Lake, along with a significant portion of the stormwater system upstream of this area, currently enter the combined system and compound the issues. The goal of this project is to remove stormwater from the combined system, thus reducing system overflows into the Halifax Harbour. A portion of this work crosses DND land, outside of the active portion of the property. The work on DND property generally includes trenched excavation and installation of a new storm sewer adjacent an existing sewer and construction of a new stormwater channel.
