Containment Cell Construction at the Little Judique Ponds Fisheries and Oceans Canada Small Craft Harbour, Inverness County, Nova Scotia

Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Small Craft Harbours (DFO-SCH) proposes the construction of an on-site containment cell for the purpose of managing sediment derived from maintenance dredging activities conducted at the Little Judique Ponds SCH. The containment cell will be constructed on the seaward side of an existing breakwater wharf structure located on the southeast side of the harbour. The cell will be built outwards approximately 29.3 meters from the existing structure and will measure approximately 155 meters long, following the line of the current structure. The outer wall will be constructed using corestone placed at a 1.5:1 slope, and overlain with a layer of filterstone and a layer of armourstone on the seaward side of the structure. The final cell wall will have an approximate crest width of 4 m and a height of +4.0 m above chart datum. Existing armourstone on the current structure (304) will be incorporated into the new work. The total expected footprint is approximately 4,150 m2.
