Construction of a Modular Lobster Holding Facility, Red Head, Prince Edward Island

The proposed project will include the construction of a modular lobster holding facility adjacent to the existing service area. The facility will consist of two tractor trailer size containers installed on an existing concrete pad and store up to 18,000 lbs of lobster. A third container may be installed to produce ice. The proposed activities are expected to begin in fall 2020 and be completed by March 2021. Project commencement is subject to the receipt of regulatory approvals.

Notice of Intent to Make a Determination – Start of Public Comment Period

August 24, 2020Fisheries and Oceans Canada- Small Craft Harbours (DFO-SCH) intends to make a determination regarding whether carrying out of the modular lobster holding facility project, located at the Red Head Small Craft Harbour, Prince Edouard Island is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, DFO-SCH is inviting public comments in respect to that determination for 30 days following the posting of this notice.
