Alberton (Northport) Wharf Reconstruction (Structure 412)

Alberton (Northport) SCH requires the reconstruction of a section of inner harbour wharf that has began to fail and is no longer safe to use. The existing 12 meter section of wharf to be replaced was constructed over an existing launching ramp over 40 years ago that was no longer in use. The timber decking supported by steel beams has since partially collapsed. The timber decking and fenders along with the steel beams and former concrete launching ramp will removed and a new steel sheet pile wharf will be constructed in its place. The new wharf will consist of steel sheet pile facing, concrete decking, crushed rock and gravel fill and a tie-rod and anchoring system to hold the steel sheet piling in place. Construction is anticipated to begin in fall of 2023.

End of Public Comment Period

February 20, 2023 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Small Craft Harbours is considering comments received to date to inform its determination on whether carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
