Tsiiontiatarorokstha Cultural Gathering Place

Mohawk Council of Kanesatake will construct a safe place designed for cultural exchange, teaching and transmission of traditional values in support of Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals. The cultural centre will be approximately 220 square meters. The selected lot was previously cleared, and does not have any mature trees.

September 29, 2023 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
