Replacement of window panes at Rigaud college of the CBSA

Replacement of the window panes of the 7 bays of the gymnasium at the CBSA Rigaud Campus. Replacement work is scheduled for 2024 during the summer period, depending on the possibility of mobilization in the spring for the mitigation methods that the contractor will take to prevent the nesting of barn swallows present on the site of the works. The decision to carry out the work during the nesting period has been made following discussions between stakeholders (consultants, architects, operations team, etc.).

Most of the work will be carried out from the outside, having previously installed protective measures for existing heating oil tanks under windows such as platforms,  a dust barrier will also be installed inside the gymnasium. The work will generally be done during the day. The glass blocks will be demolished for each bay, a new sealing frame will be installed around the perimeter of the opening and new curtain walls in aluminum will be installed. In order to enable energy efficiency and good control of heat gain, thermotriple glasses with Low-E are planned. Considering the CSA A460 standard, the proposed exterior glass will have a Low-e with a 51 x 51 mm stitch pattern. The low-e will be tinted in order to decrease the transmission of light on the interior side in order to limit the glare of the occupants of the gymnasium. An anti-intrusion film will be installed on the interior glass to reduce the risk of intrusion and also protect the glass from gym activities.
