Broad Cove Mountain Trail Redevelopment

Broad Cove Mountain Trail has been impacted as a result of extreme weather in November, 2021 and requires redevelopment. The new trail is comprised of two segments: Broad Cove Mountain "East" (3,198m) and Broad Cove Mountain "West" (2,825m), totaling just over 6km. Broad Cove Mountain "East" is designed for both mountain bike (optimized) and pedestrian activity and includes features such as frequent natural grade reversals and trail outsloping, as well as rock armoured dips and a 5-6m length bridge. Broad Cove Mountain "West" is offering pedestrian activity only and also includes frequent natural grade reversals and trail outsloping, as well as rock armoured dips and six bridges ranging from 3-10m in length. Sumps, ditching and/or small culverts may be needed in either segment, and viewscape areas will be developed. Complete decommissioning of the existing Broad Cove Mountain Trail is included in this project and includes the removal and offsite disposal of all existing infrastructure along the existing trail.

Latest update

December 28, 2022 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Parks Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
