Dredging Projects for Six (6) Properties Bordering the Trent-Severn Waterway: (1), Balsam Lake, (2) Buckhorn Lake, (3) Stoney Lake, (4) Pigeon Lake, (5) Balsam Lake, and (6) Sparrow Lake

The overall intent of these projects is to dredge specified areas to improve navigation and accessibility. These projects are anticipated to be completed between Fall 2021 and February 2022.

• (1) TS-2021-17 (TSW 200142) -  Osprey Trail, Balsam Lake, ON
o Dredging an area of 15 m x 30 m = 450 m².  The current depth of water is approximately 0.30 m (12") and plans are to dredge to a depth of approximately 1.0 m. The total volume of material to be removed is approximately 315 m³.
o Dredging is to be completed in the dry, from land or on ice surface with an excavator or drag line bucket.
o Sediment fencing shall be placed along the shoreline and a turbidity curtain shall be installed
o Submergent dense aquatic vegetation, with a soft bottom is present at this site

• (2) TS-2021-18 (TSW 200215) - 1674 Greenwood Lane West, Selwyn, Buckhorn Lake, ON
o Dredging an area of approximately 9.1 m (30') x 41.1m (135') = 375 m².  The current depth of water is approximately 0 – 1.5 m, and plans are to dredge to a depth of up to 1.75 m. Based on this range of depth, the total volume of material to be removed shall range between approximately 93.5 m³ and 656.25 m³.
o Dredging is to be completed in the dry from an ice surface with an excavator and removed from site via dump trucks.
o Dredge material shall be disposed of upland more than 15 m from the shoreline and above the flood plain.
o Submergent dense aquatic vegetation, with a soft bottom is present at this site
o Previously dredged in 1960s

• (3) TS-2021-20 (TSW 200273) - 1378 Birchview Road, Douro-Dummer, Stoney Lake, ON
o Dredging an area of 15.24 m x 7.62 m = 116.1 m².  The current depth of water is approximately 0.30 m (12") and plans are to dredge 0.3m to a depth of approximately 1.5 m. The total volume of material to be removed is approximately 34.8 m³.
o Dredging is to be completed in the wet, from land with an excavator with a 1 yard bucket and removed from site via 2 dump trucks. Removed material shall be relocated to agricultural land.
o A turbidity curtain shall be installed around the perimeter of dredge area (if not frozen).
o Submergent scattered aquatic vegetation, with a soft bottom is present at this site
o The proponent also wished to create a fish sanctuary within a quiet area adjacent to their shoreline. This shall involve the placement of several rocks (Boulder, gravel and cobble), and plantings of submergent aquatic vegetation at three nodal points along the northern end of the shoreline.

• (4) TS-2021-22 (TSW 200286) - 36 Fire Route 121, Trent Lakes, Pigeon Lake, ON
o Dredging an area of 10 m x 20 m = 200 m².  The current depth of water is approximately 0.61 m (2') and plans are to dredge to a depth of approximately 1.5 m (5'). The total volume of material to be removed is approximately 300 m³.
o Dredging is to be completed in the dry, from land with an excavator. Removed material shall be relocated to a disposal facility/dumping station.
o Sediment fencing shall be placed along the shoreline.
o Submergent scattered aquatic vegetation, with a soft bottom is present at this site. There is no aquatic vegetation present in the area of dredge

• (5) TS-2021-23 (TSW 200298) 344 Indian Point Road, CKL, Balsam Lake, ON
o Dredging an area of 12.2 m (40') x 18.3 m (60') = 223.26 m².  The current depth of water is approximately ranges from 0.61 m (2') to 0.76 m (2.5"). A maximum depth up to 3.05 m (10') will be permitted for dredging.  The total volume of material to be removed will be up to approximately 544.75 m²
o Dredging is to be completed in the dry, from a barge or on ice surface with an excavator or drag line bucket. Rocks shall also be removed as part of the dredge work. Dredge material shall be removed from the work site.
o Sediment fencing shall be placed along the shoreline and a turbidity curtain shall be installed.
o Submergent scattered aquatic vegetation, with a hard bottom is present at this site

• (6) TS-2021-25 (TSW 210079) - 3500 Lauderdale Point Cres, Severn, Sparrow Lake, ON
o Dredging an area of 10 m x 2 m = 20 m².  The current depth of water is approximately between 0.2 m to 1.0 m and plans are to dredge to a depth of approximately 1.0 m. The total volume of material to be removed is approximately up to 16 m³.
o Dredging is to be completed in the wet, from a barge with an excavator.
o Sediment fencing shall be placed along the shoreline and a turbidity curtain shall be installed.
o Submergent scattered aquatic vegetation, with a soft bottom is present at this site
o Site was previously dredged 9 years ago
