Remediation of B, C, D, E, and Y Ranges, Garrison Petawawa Range and Training Area

Real Properties Operations Detachment Petawawa at Garrison Petawawa is proposing the remediation of five small arms ranges in the Range and Training Area of the Garrison. These ranges are used for training of military firearms. The amount of ricochet material as well as lead content in the backstops have exceeded the recommended maximum allowable values and the backstops need to be striped and replaced. Mitigation measures will be implemented to protect the adjacent water sampling wells during the construction. Closing of the gallery ranges will adversely impact the Garrisons ability to force generate soldiers for operations.
