Utility pole installation along the Bell Aliant fibre optic line in Terra Nova National Park

The replacement of utility poles is required along the Bell Aliant Fibre Optic line to ensure that communication services are safely and effectively delivered to the operations compound region in Terra Nova National Park. This route runs from the Coast Guard building at the TNNP operations compound to the main line adjacent to the Trans Canada Highway (see Appendix 3). Total distance where pole replacement is required is approximately 400 m. Pole replacement will require the use of a John Deere 75G excavator with an operating weight of 18,800 lbs and a ground pressure of 3.4 PSI. This machinery will be confined to the recently cleared corridor (described in project TN-2021-01) and is likely to occur on frozen or partially frozen ground (mid-December 2021). All work plans will be inspected and approved by Parks Canada Staff prior to the installation of these new utility poles.
