Aid to Navigation Tower Refurbishments - Coast of Newfoundland
Canadian Coast Guard is planning the refurbishment of existing Aid to Navigation infrastructure at various locations along the coast of Newfoundland from June 2020 thru March 2021. Scope of the project includes but not limited to the removal of existing infrastructure (such as towers, helicopter landing pads), minor civil and ground works for the placement of reinforced concrete foundations, installation of new pre-fabricated aluminum tower structures and where required helicopter landing pads and solar panel systems. Equipment utilized on site will be mostly hand operated tools. Due to the location and remoteness of each site, heavy equipment will not be utilized, however a Coast Guard Helicopter will sling the tower and materials from a nearby staging area. This infrastructure is located on cliffs and islands along the coast and is required for the Aids To Navigation Program to mark navigational significance for the Mariner.
