This is a non-designated project on federal lands or outside Canada. The listed authorities are responsible for the project assessment.
DFO, Small Craft Harbour intends to complete repairs and upgrades to the wharf infrastructure at the SCH site in Rose Blanche, NL. The scope of work for this project will involve repairs and reconstruction at 3 sites damaged during a recent storm.
The proposed activities at Site 1 include the demolition and removal of the existing marginal wharf in order to facilitate reconstruction. Following demolition and clean up activities, a new marginal wharf will be constructed in the same footprint of the existing struture. New floating dock's and associated gangways and anchor blocks will be installed at both the north and south ends of the new marginal wharf. A new harbour authority building will be constructed at the site.
At Site 2 the proposed activities include demolition of the cribs on the north and south side of the concrete launchway. The existing launchway will remain on site, and new timber cribs complete with reinforced concrete decks will be constructed on the north and south side of the structure.
Site 3 currently includes a dilapidated wharf, slipway, concrete walkway, and breakwater wharf. The remnants of the wharf structure and the breakwater wharf are to be demolished and removed in its entirety. Once removed, armourstone breakwater type structures will be constructed where the wharves once existed.
