East Harmony Trail Extension

The Harmony Advanced Water Systems Corporation (HAWSCO) is proposing to extend East Harmony Trail (the Project) from the border of the Harmony community to Range Road 33, which is west of Calgary, Alberta. The Project is partially on lands owned by the Springbank Airport (YBW) and is therefore subject to a review under Section 82 of the Impact Assessment Act for projects on federal lands. The Calgary Airport Authority is the lead federal authority, with Harmony Developments Inc. named as the project proponent.

The proposed alignment will cross federal lands operated by the Springbank Airport (YBW) in a northwest-southeast/east direction connecting East Harmony Trail to Range Road 33. As such, construction of the roadway system within the airport jurisdiction will involve approximately 1,350 metres of road construction, including utility relocations, earthwork cuts and fills, placement of subgrade, gravels, and asphalt concrete. The roadway will also include stormwater conveyance ditches, culverts for overland drainage, and erosion control measures. Construction is anticipated to occur from September 2023 to November 2023, pending approvals.
