Highway 93 N 2020 Rip Rap Sourcing Program

Highway Engineering Services (HES) is proposing the collection of suitable Class 2 and 3 rip rap (the Project) for future bank repair projects in conjunction with ongoing rock scaling/blasting activities near the Glacier Skywalk.

The boulder collection/busting portion of the program will focus on boulder busting and rock collection at select

locations for storage. This work will be completed by contractors already working along the Highway 93N corridor.

The collection of rock is part of a larger rip rap collection program that is being initiated in 2020. Boulder busting (isolated blasting) and rock removal targeted at:

• 103+200 to 103+600 (right side)

• 110+300 to 110+500 (right side)

• 110+500 to 111+000 (left side)

27 april 2020 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Parks Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
