Parks Canada Agency Brazeau Lake Bridge Replacement

The Brazeau bridge is a stream-crossing on the Brazeau Loop hiking trail in Jasper National Park. The trail has been divided since the washout of this bridge in spring 2022. Parks Canada Agency proposes to replace the existing damaged wooden bridge with a sturdy pre-fabricated bridge made from fiberglass reinforced polymer (FRP). The bridge will be placed on two concrete piers and two wooden abutments. The piers will be constructed within the stream bed by pouring concrete into two 2m x 1 m x 0.5m forms. The FRP bridge will then be secured to the piers and abutments. All materials, including the FRP bridge, will be transported to site using helicopter assistance.
