Railway Crossings Upgrade - Canadian Forces Base Shilo

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project to upgrade the railway crossings at Canadian Forces Base Shilo. The upgrades are proposed at three locations with work that includes:

Location 1: Royal Avenue:

  • Construct a sidewalk extension.
  • Crossing approach asphalt resurfacing.
  • Fence post relocation.

Location 2: Base Running Track:

  • Tie replacement.
  • Crossing surface installation.
  • Placement of granular material up to crossing surface.
  • Installation of railway signage.

Location 3: Aldershot Road:

  • Full replacement of railway track through Aldershot Road.
  • Crossing surface installation.
  • Sidewalk extension.
  • Crossing approach asphalt resurfacing.
  • Installation of railway signage.

April 12, 2024 – The public comment period on the project is closed. The Department of National Defence is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out.
