Westsyde Road Multi-Use Pathway

This project involves the installation of a 1.4 km long, 3-metre-wide multi-use gravel pathway on developed lands alongside Westsyde Road, British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure right-of-way. Signage and pathway markers will also be installed along the path. All project activities are taking place on Whispering Pines 4, federal lands administered by Indigenous Services Canada.


Latest update

September 5, 2023 Infrastructure Canada has determined that the proposed Westsyde Road Multi-Use Pathway is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
  • Indigenous knowledge;
  • community knowledge;
  • comments received from the public; and
  • technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

Mitigation and monitoring measures taken into account for this determination included active and adaptive management measures that would be implemented for the protection of the local environment.  Based on the consideration of these measures, Infrastructure Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the Project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Therefore, Infrastructure Canada may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
