Application for Approval of the 2021 Pipeline Decommission Program

Nova Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL) is proposing to decommission the Carson Creek Lateral natural gas pipeline, of which an approximately 6 km portion crosses the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation Whitecourt (IR 32) Reserve Lands near Whitecourt, Alberta. NGTL has determined that the facilities are not necessary to meet customers' future natural gas transportation demands and will permanently cease operations resulting in a discontinuance of service. The portion of the pipeline that crosses the federal lands will be decommissioned in place and no physical activities or disturbance is planned to occur on the federal lands.
