Crean Channel Modification

The Crean Lake Channel, which joins the 3rd Heart Lake to Crean Lake has periodically been a hazard to boaters due to submerged rocks, which can damage boat props and motor legs. A partial modification was carried out by volunteers in 2003; hazardous rocks were removed by hand and relocated to the edge of the channel.  With lower water levels in recent years, the channel is again a safety issue. A group of concerned lake users approached to the park with a proposal to more permanently rectify the issue by removing hazardous rocks and boulders using a small backhoe with a thumb attachment working from the park barge.  Rocks would be picked out of the boat channel and moved to the edge of the channel out of the way of passing boats.
