Harbour Entrance Improvements, Fox Island River, NL

DFO, Small Craft Harbour intends to complete enhancements to the harbour entrance at the site in Fox Island River, NL. The scope of work for this project involves construction of a new groyne structure at the harbour entrance, and excavation of material on the seaward side of the existing groyne (the material is from the high water mark to the head of the existing groyne).

November 10, 2023 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Small Craft Harbours and Transport Canada has issued a Notice of Determination after evaluation of the Fox Island River project and has determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects with mitigation measures as outlined in their evaluation and can therefore proceed.
