Pilot Spring Development Project in the East Block of Grasslands National Park

Grasslands National Park uses livestock grazing to meet habitat management objectives in areas of the park where there is no bison grazing. Water is a limiting factor for livestock; livestock will rarely travel >1.6km from a water source for grazing. Grasslands National Pak proposes to develop three spring water sources for livestock watering in areas where other water sources are not readily available. This project will serve as a pilot to inform future water development projects and water management in the park. This project will be assessed with a basic impact assessment.
