Construction of a cogeneration plant

The Opitciwan Atikamekw Council would like to add a biomass-fired power plant to the four diesel-powered electricity generators currently in service and owned by Hydro-Québec. The proposed plant, with a maximum capacity of 2.5 MW, would be used to ensure the reliability of electricity distribution. The footprint of this project is 60,000 m2.

Latest update

August 06, 2024 – Indigenous Services Canada issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
