Naotkamegwanning First Nation Waste Water Treatment Plant Upgrades
This is a non-designated project on federal lands or outside Canada. The listed authorities are responsible for the project assessment.
The Naotkamegwanning First Nation community requires a new wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) to
service the growing service population. The new WWTP will be a MBBR treatment plant with clarifiers,
flocculation, UV disinfection, and sludge dewatering. The new WWTP will be located adjacent to the
existing WWTP, in a currently forested area. The WWTP access approach will be extended to the new
building and a granular parking lot area will surround the new WWTP building. A newer genset unit
utilized by the existing WWTP will be located in an exterior enclosure next to the new WWTP building.
New forcemain piping will also be installed parallel to the existing forcemain between the new WWTP
and the nearest lift station, while the watermain will be extend to the new WWTP and a new section of
outfall piping will be installed from the new WWTP to the existing outfall pipe. Once the new WWTP is
commissioned, the existing WWTP will be decommissioned.
A site plan of the new WWTP is attached.
