• To the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada,   Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA) appreciates the opportunity to comment on the Moraine Power Generator. We have concerns regarding the construction of a new natural gas plant, the carbon capture technology under use, and the impact of construction on the sensitive landscapes, including a key wildlife biodiversity area. We oppose the development of new natural gas infrastructure, although should the project proceed, we advise re-routing of pipelines and transmission lines to avoid wetlands and key biodiversity areas, extensive restoration of construction areas to functional native habitat, and long-term monitoring of the facility and all components for changes to wildlife, vegetation or air, soil and water quality. • I attended the open house for this project. The project team did an excellent job of reaching out to everyone who attended, and making themselves fully available to answer questions. I spoke with a number of people before and after attending the presentation, and all were very excited about being the host community for this project. The technology, with up to 95% carbon capture, could be a game-changer in terms of helping to achieve the climate goals that have been set for 2030 and beyond. Not only is this project a very promising development from an environmental standpoint, but it would also be great news for the local economy. I'm sure that I am one of many who are hoping that the project's proponents are able to work with all stakeholders to expedite it in a responsible manner.

• I believe the need for future E power was increased with GM, Ford and Tesla agreeing [some few days ago] to a common charging connectivity system for their North American EV's.  This will greatly influence near term vehicle buying decisions resulting in an increased need for power generation and related infrastructure. • I fully support this type of future job creation in my community. As a resident and business owner in Whitecourt for many years I am happy to hear of the possibility for my community to receive full approval of this project. With the demand for clean electricity generation this project is a great example of energy at it's best. With the proposed carbon capture componant this will help offset other industry pollutants that currently exist, but are being minimized. Whitecourt is a community full of industrial talent and a great young population to carry us into the future.
