Notice of Determination

Ottawa — October 5, 2022 — The Ottawa International Airport Authority (OIAA) has determined that the proposed project to harvest the red pine plantation located on Hunt Club Road in Ottawa, Ontario, is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects if the following standard Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) mitigation measures are followed.

Mitigation Measures as per ECCC:

If signs of nesting or breeding are detected, ECCC recommends:

  • halt all disruptive activities;
  • avoid disturbing surrounding vegetation;
  • protect the nest with a buffer zone;
  • avoid the immediate area until the young have left the vicinity of the nest; and,
  • avoid, adapt, reschedule or relocate planned activities.

Furthermore, a 15 m buffer must be left between the De Niverville Ditch and the harvesting of the pine plantation must be completed during the winter months (end of November to the end of March).
