Demolish Pre-Wash Facility – Garrison Wainwright

February 10, 2022 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed the demolition and reclamation of the pre-wash facility. Specifically, the concrete area and fencing will be removed. The pre-wash ponds have naturalized over time and will be left in place. Construction is proposed for Spring/Summer 2022.

Project activites :

• removal and disposal of structural components of the site including concrete and fencing
• reclaim gravel from the site
• removal and disposal of geotextile
• finishing contouring
