Long Point (Amherst Island) Crib Repairs 2021 - Public Comments Invited 

September 10, 2021 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Small Craft Harbours Branch, must determine whether the proposed Long Point (Amherst Island) Crib Repairs is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.To help inform this determination, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project 

Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Small Craft Harbours (SCH) branch is planning to demolish a portion of the deteriorated timber cribwork and make necessary safety repairs to the existing structure located at Long Point (Amherst Island) SCH. This project includes the following: 

  • Removal and disposal off-site of the collapsed sections of timber crib and any loose timbers associated
  • Nailing/bracing down any other crib members near the removal line of the work
  • Reinstatement of existing barricade

No heavy equipment is to be used on the timber crib or adjacent property, work is to be completed using hand-held equipment and tools.
