Construction of a new building in Kamloops, British Columbia – Public Comments Invited

August 11, 2021 – The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) must determine whether the proposed construction of a new building for the operations of Delta Irrigation Land Company Ltd, located at 324 Mt. Paul Way, Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, the BDC is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The project:

Delta Irrigation Land Company Ltd is requesting financing from the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) to construct a new building for the operations of the group. The funds will be used to erect a 1,509 square meters warehouse, showroom & office facility made of basic prefab steel structure, slab on grade, on an existing developed site.

The site of 9,713 square meters is leased from the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc and is located at 324 Mt. Paul Way, Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. The subject property is approximately 270 m from the South Thompson River. There are 4 industrial properties between the subject and the river. Athabasca Street West is between the subject and the river.

The site is located in an industrial park and surrounded by several similar industrial buildings. The site was historically used as a concrete block plant. The subject location has been vacant for approximately 2 years. Two existing buildings on the site: one-story industrial building of 410 square meters located in the northwestern corner of the site and a one-story 185 square meters building located in the southeastern corner of the site. The existing buildings will not be demolished and will be utilized for storage.
