The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence intends to install a new clear span Acrow panel bridge across Brightwater Creek within the northwest section of 17 Wing Detachment Dundurn's Range Training Area (RTA). The new bridge will support emergency and military vehicles' access in the northern section of the RTA and is identified as an operational requirement for military training. Work consists of the following activities:

1. Construct new abutments on either side of the creek and install a new rip-rap apron. This also includes re-sloping the area around the abutments and installing geotextile. Construction of the abutments will be above the creek's high watermark and is scheduled for the winter of 2021 when the creek is fully frozen.
2. Install the new bridge spring of 2021. This will include adding topsoil and hydroseeding the new slopes and disturbed areas.
