Nuclear energy is by far the safest and cleanest method of power generation currently available. It is also the only method we have with the potential to generate the amount of power we are going to need for the future. We need someplace to store depleted fuel rods and I have to trust the experts that this proposal represents the best available option. I fully support this project with two qualifications. First, the material must remain recoverable. The technology exists to use spent nuclear fuel to produce further energy and some day it will likely become economical to do so. Secondly, there needs to be an ongoing monitoring system to detect radiation in the environment in unlikely event that it finds its way into the environment through some mechanism we don't yet understand.
