Deep Geological Repository (DGR) for Canada's Used Nuclear Fuel Project
Why the Canadian Shield??

Hello,
I feel more studies are required before nuclear waste is deposited under ground. The Canadian Shield and region contains much water (above ground in lakes and streams and underground) and is important to the lives of Canadians and wildlife. The Canadian Shield is not immovable...drilling, fracking and other underground work is known to cause tremors and small earthquakes and the release of gases. Building a nuclear deposit site in the Canadian Shield is not worth the high risks to the health of our wildlife and our lives and children's lives. The transport of nuclear waste on our dangerous highways and risk of a spill in the event of an accident is insane to think of. Disposal of nuclear waste is a huge issue to Canadians, so why continue to produce nuclear power? Why not solar or wind power? Talk of creating jobs in Ignace is wonderful, but again, why not create a solar or wind farm instead of a nuclear waste dump site??
