As residents of Northwestern Ontario we are against the burial of nuclear waste in Northwestern Ontario. The burial of nuclear waste and the guarentee that it is going to be safe for thousands of years is a ridiculus statement.
Having such a small portion of the population making a decision for all of us living in Northwestern Ontario, especially the people that are living downstream from the proposed site is wrong.
We are also very concerned about the transportation of the nuclear waste. We have numerous accidents involving transports every year. The consequences of an accident will be devastating. We only have one highway servicing northwestern ontario and highway closures affect all residents. An example travelling to Thunder Bay from Dryden for medical or other reasons could have a serious outcome.
