NWMO suggests that it is working on behalf of Canada's goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. However it admits that heating at the site and transportation of used fuel will significantly add to greenhouse gas emissions.
if NWMO was serious about carbon neutrality, it would ensure that heating and transportation at the facility would not generate greenhouse gases by being electric. And although NWMO does not include transportation of used fuel in the IPD, it too should be electric or hydrogen based trucking, to avoid ghg creation.- Submitted by
