Nuclear Waste Burial

I would like to express great concern for the proposed nuclear waste burial site.
.The burial of extremely dangerous waste that can has a lifespan of more than 100,000 years is unethical and incomprehensible. That the repository would also be decommissioned by the NWMO after 160 years implies lack of plans to communicate risks to future generations.
Transportation of nuclear waste to the site has be excluded from the assessment, much of which will come from great distances through many communities. This is a tremendous shortcoming.
Beyond the immediacy of the dangers and storage of nuclear waste are the underlying concerns that nuclear energy sources incurr great expense, increased taxes to the public and are slow to develop and build. It is astounding that Ontario Power Generation (OPG) proposes to develop major nuclear power plants on the shores of Lake Ontario at Wesleyville (the largest in the world). There are blatant alternatives such as storage, renewable energy sources and efficiency standards that lower cost and more readily reduce our carbon footprint. It would be far wiser and credible to funnel investments into the latter options rather than towards nuclear power sources. The OPG should give serious thought to recalibrate the alternatives.
