Comments about Nuclear Waste Management Organization's  DGR

Living between two nuclear power plants as I do here in Durham Region I have always had ongoing  concern about the routine radioactive releases from these nuclear plants.

One requirement of the Initial Project Description is to consider Alternatives to the Project .An alternative would be to continue to store the waste on site of the nuclear plant , in much improved waste containers , above ground and able to monitor.

There needs to be a full and complete examination of alternatives to the project and how this would be accomplised included in the Impact Assessment.

Information is lacking about emergency response and evacuation plans,a critical requirement of any nuclear project that needs to be included in the Impact Assessment.

Transportation has been excluded from the Initial Project Description , it must be included in the Impact Assessment.

The scope, the magnitude, the affect on people, land ,water, and air of this project is unimaginable. In fact it is unprecedented.

The Initial Project Description from NWMO needs a Full Impact Assessment  and to be referred to an Integrated Review Panel.
