I am writing this to express that it should be required that the transportation of nuclear waste should be reviewed to determine the safety of this program.
Approximately 132,000 tonnes of nuclear waste are being planned to be transported from Southern Ontario to Wabigoon Lake (1400 km) over the next 50 years at the rate of 2-3 trips per day.
Weather conditions in Northwestern Ontairo can cause very risky driving conditions, and highway 17 also consists of a lot of 2 lane roads, allowing for accidents resulting in Nuclear waste spillage to be a very highly likely outcome to occur from this project.
Histortically, there have been various collisions that have occured on this highway from transportation vehicles. I personally believe that a federal review of the frequency of collisions on this highway should be a statistic to be used in the review to determine the safety of this program.
A clear review over the safety of transporting such amounts of nuclear waste such far distances is imperative to the safety of this program an should be required to be reviewed federally in this program as there is a very high likelyhood of nuclear spillage to result from this.
