Deep Geological Repository Ignace and less than enough transport assessment

Hello Folks,

Thanks for the opportunity to effect the DGR project. I am dead set against the burial of nuclear waste in Northwestern Ontario. Two points I'd like to make:

The lack of timely public information regarding the transport of the waste material down an extremely long distance from the southern part of Ontario to Ignace is risky at best. The concept scares and worries me terribly. Transport assessment is of equal importance to location. This will bring the waste right through my community of Thunder Bay.

My second point is that the result of this assessment, if in the affirmation of the project, will be a carte blanche to the Ontario Provincial Government to increase the use of nuclear energy when it is clear there are much safer and cheaper alternatives. I have little trust that our elected representatives have the best knowledge and wisdom to make decisions such as those that effect many generations. The amount of corruption in provincial decision making is not conducive to having the safety of the living at heart.

This is bringing a cloud of foreboding and uncertainty that folks like myself and my kids will have to live with daily... while alternatives are already available!
