risks of radioactive waste transport and burial

My husband  was born in Port Hope Ontario when Eldorado made fuel rods and used the excess radioactive tailings as land fill. They thought, "What could go wrong?" well hundreds of people soon died from cancer. Luckily the family moved away, but his mother and brother died from cancer and his sister and my husband have had cancer removed. The town was given compensation to remove the radioactive tailings. It is a lesson we should all learn, that, even though people might think the chance of a problem happening, is very small, they are often wrong. What can go wrong, often does.  

The risk of transporting waste over hundreds of miles is obviously very dangerous, putting the lives of thousands of people at risk.

The risks of burying nuclear waste include:

• The half life of the nuclear wast is in millions of years and it has to be maintained for 10 half lives to be safe. This can not be done if buried.                                                                                               
• With all these risks and more no one should generate more waste and try to bury any waste
