Nuclear Waste Depository

Text

There is no reason to collect up the nuclear waste from Southern Ontario and transport it 1,700 km and bury it in Northern Ontario. If it is so safe, leave it where it is. The citizens of Northern Ontario don't want it or the risks it entails. You cannot discuss this issue without considering the risks of accidents and contamination while in transit. Contamination of the water table when it leaks is a certainty. The industry has already shown a careless attitude towards safety. (ie: Chalk River, Port Hope, Elliot Lake, Pickering, Gunnar, Lorado and many other areas - all these have had, and continue to have, leaks and contamination issues that are brushed aside or simply not reported.) There is no trust of this industry. Nuclear is a thing of the past. Why is Canada allowing those companies (and people) heavily invested in this industry to hold us back from investing in green technology and other sources, such as hydrogen? Advanced countries are leaving us behind.
