NWMO must be accountable for ensuring the public understands the problem, the strategy, and the risks and implications.
Given the scale, duration, and societal implications of the DGR project, NWMO has a responsibility to demonstrate not only technical readiness but public comprehension. Public understanding is essential for legitimacy in a democratic society, yet most Canadians — including many corridor communities — remain unaware of the project and its implications. Anecdotal evidence (talking with friends across the province and in other provinces) shows that this project and its risks & implications are not widely known. Almost *everyone* we ask about this is unaware of the project. And now there are 30 days (27 as of today) to comment on 92 pages of summary material and the full IPD (1233 pages). Unreasonable and patently unfair to the people of today and future generations.
