Elsipogtog First Nation Water Treatment Plant Manganese Upgrade

The Elsipogtog First Nation Water Treatment Plant Manganese Upgrades project includes installation of greensand filters within the existing water treatment plant, drilling and connecting a new drinking water well to increase community supply, and installing a sanitary effluent holding tank on site for the backwash water, complete with a lift station pumping effluent water to a nearby lift station along Big Cove Road. The project is expected to require clearing 590 m2 of vegetation.

May 24, 2023 – Indigenous Services Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting public comments until June 24, 2023, respecting that determination.
