Developing a backyard cabin into Bed and Breakfast

A property-owner is proposing to demolish a garage and develop a one-bedroom bed and breakfast commercial accommodation in an existing backyard cabin located at 345 Otter Steet, Banff. Proposed work includes demolition of a garage, structural reinforcement of existing cabin such as insulating structure, waterproofing structure, window replacements, new interior works (bathroom and kitchen), installation of heating and domestic water, replacement of electrical, new roofing materials (asphalt), exterior building maintenance. The project is proposed to start on August and complete by December 2023.


Latest update

June 10, 2023 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Parks Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
